As is the usual with our netBloc series, netBloc Vol. 47: Grooves For The Sentient is packed with incredible music from around the globe that’s been released under a Creative Commons (CC) license. There’s little chance that you won’t find something on it that completely grabs you.

With this series, blocSonic always sets out to hammer home the message that FREE music doesn’t equate with a lack of quality. The reasons artists release their art for free are varied, but ultimately, they choose to give it away so that it’s easier for you to hear it and, in the case of CC licensed music, to share it. With big business continuing to get world governments to tighten up copyright law to serve as a protective shield for mega-corporate content, it’s growing increasingly important that CC licenses exist. Without them and similar open content licenses, fans would have little way to LEGALLY share the music they love and artists would have little way to encourage their fans to share the music. Artists at all levels in the industry are increasingly chosing to share their music this way… including artists like DJ Muggs (Cypress Hill) and his latest musical endeavor Cross My Heart Hope To Die, which you’ll hear in Vol. 47.
